KALEIDOSCOPE HOTEL

Berlin, Germany

Kaleidoscope Hotel, Berlin, Germany

Design: Ferminnan + Spagnoletta Architects

____________

Kaleidoscope Hotel aims to become an emblematic hotel in Berlin,

located between Alexanderplatz and Berlin Hackescher Markt.

Impressive volumetric shape

This was a winning project in an architectural competition, in which we used all our creativity.

The project, conceived as overlapping volumes, provides a convinced geometry that politely connects with its surroundings.

The building’s skin breathes through the metal-patterned façades. They serve as a filter for incoming and outgoing light.

At the same time, they show its impressive volumetric shape.

260 apartments and rooms are distributed within the building, with a variety of typologies, adapted for the client’s different needs.

Stylish interiors, warm atmospheres bathed in light

The bedroom’s design took into consideration three important points: originality, luxury, and freedom.

These keywords pursue to create a strong identity blended with an ideal ambiance that result in a relaxing stay.

____________

We seek to merge two identities into one.

On the one hand, Kaleidoscope Hotel seen in daylight.

With its recognizable façade, warm and welcoming tones.

On the other, Kaleidoscope at night bathed in moonlight.

Thus, we reinforce the effect of volume with lights placed in strategic locations.

____________

The location is a very noisy place during the day.

Berlin Hackescher Markt is a marketplace full of pedestrians

carrying their shopping bags and stopping at the stalls.

However, at night it becomes a quiet place.

Only the occasional glide of the city train along the rails can be heard,

like a mechanical snake peering over the building.

As soon as it has done so, it leaves.

And the silence returns.

Then only the lights remain. The presence. The silent language of Kaleidoscope Hotel.

It speaks, expresses itself, tells us a story.

But it does not do it with words that we can understand.

Rather, it communicates with the language of shapes, geometry, lights and materials.
