At ERGØN & WØLF, we’re transforming the concept of student housing. The project skillfully reinterprets traditional dormitory designs, introducing a captivating, necklace-like arrangement of buildings encircling a lush, forest-like courtyard. Tailored to balance students’ needs for privacy and social interaction, the design strategically places dormitories along the periphery, offering stunning campus views.
The heart of this creation is the communal spaces. They are set on expansive double-height platforms overlooking the courtyard, fostering a vibrant community spirit. Central to this oasis is a bustling public square, complete with a cafeteria, event space, and quaint shops, all designed to strengthen campus bonds and enrich student life. This innovative approach, in partnership with Ksestudio and Kizi Studio, is not just a place to live; it’s a dynamic environment where learning, leisure, and connections flourish.
This project represents a groundbreaking vision in student accommodation. It’s designed to create an engaging and comfortable environment for learning and living. The unique arrangement of buildings, following a necklace-like pattern around a central courtyard, fosters a strong sense of community and encourages social interaction.
Elevated double-height platforms provide sweeping views of the courtyard, enhancing visual connectivity and social engagement. This design concept, inspired by the principles of modern architecture, features clean lines and simple forms. In that way, it achieves an aesthetic of harmony and balance.
The terraces, designed with double-height dimensions, offer an expansive, open-air retreat, seamlessly blending the indoors with nature. These terraces are more than just architectural features; they are serene havens that invite students to relax, connect, and rejuvenate.
The heart of this design is the central courtyard, a vibrant communal hub that encourages social interaction and community bonding. Here, students find a perfect balance of comfort, openness, and natural beauty, making their living experience truly exceptional and memorable.
The vision was to transform student housing into a vibrant community space that mirrors the lively spirit of Cyprus. The architects aimed to blend the needs for privacy and social interaction into a singular, harmonious design. The goal was to create more than just living spaces – we envisioned an environment where architecture and nature converge. That’s why we give it our best to highlight all these through our images.
The key challenge was integrating the concept of a necklace-like building structure around a lush courtyard, ensuring each element promoted both community and individual well-being. Balancing architectural innovation with the practical needs of student life, while maintaining a seamless connection to the natural environment, was crucial. Crafting communal areas that were both visually appealing and functional, encouraging student interaction, and integrating the feel of the Mediterranean were all essential to achieving our vision.
To bring this vision to life, we employed cutting-edge visualization techniques alongside a deep understanding of Cypriot culture. From the strategic placement of dormitories for optimal privacy and community engagement to the meticulous design of communal spaces for seamless interaction, we looked for the best way to optimize and highlight everything they can offer. The final architectural visualization emerged as a testament to modern design, where every element – from the serene courtyard to the interactive communal platforms – coalesced to create an inviting, dynamic student environment.
Nicosia, the vibrant heart of Cyprus, nurtures a rich tapestry of endemic flora. At the University of Cyprus, nature flourishes under the island’s perpetual sunshine. The campuses are adorned with a lush, green blanket of indigenous vegetation, creating an inviting, verdant landscape. Prominent among these are the iconic palm and olive trees, alongside the golden oak – Cyprus’s National Tree since 2006. This rich botanical diversity not only beautifies the campus but also stands as a living homage to Cyprus’s unique ecological heritage. A scene like this offers students and visitors alike a serene, natural retreat within the bustling city.

The dormitories offer a harmonious blend of light wooden furnishings and soothing beige and white tones, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Bathed in natural light by day and warmly lit for evening studies, these spaces are meticulously crafted for comfort and focus.
